Hi my name is Mark Shinn. I was born in Parkersburg WV in the
summer of 1962. I am the oldest of 3 sons born to Jack and Darlene
Shinn. My father was a Manager for a large grocery company and
because of this we moved all over the state of West Virginia while I was
growing up. After High School I spent several years in the US Navy
aboard the USS Carl Vinson. My ship made a world cruise in 1983
starting in Norfolk VA and ending in Alameda CA. All together I have
been in over 30 states and 14 different countries. I have done many
different jobs in my life; retail manager, construction worker, mechanic,
factory worker, salesman and several more I won't even mention.
I have been divorced for over 11 years now and was never lucky
enough to have been a father, though I think I was a fairly good
step-father. I currently am not dating anyone either.
My main interests include History, Music, Photography, Literature,
Computers, Pets, Motorcycles, Hiking, Scuba diving and Art. (Not
necessarily in that order.)
My favorite foods are about any kind of Seafood and Pizza. My favorite
Movies are Braveheart, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Forbidden
Planet, The Messenger, Liar Liar and almost anything with Sean
Connery. My favorite TV shows are MASH, Third Watch, Hill St Blues,
any of the Star Trek series, and Farscape.
My favorite authors include, Chelsea Quinn Yarboro, Fred Saberhagen,
Anne Rice, Edger Rice Burroughs, and Edger Allen Poe. My favorite
artists are Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallajo, Albrecht Dürer, and Da Vinci.
My hopes and dreams are to find a good woman to spend the rest of my
life with while I write and illustrate my own stories. Oh, winning the
lottery would be nice too.
